MonkeyRat is a multi-genre band with poet, songwriter, vocalist, composer and dancer Anna Iachino from Canada, Arnold Ludvig, award-winning bassist/composer from the Faroe Islands, Alain Apaloo award-winning guitarist based in Copenhagen, and dynamic drummer Jens Stoklund from Denmark. They released the album, Fuck The Jante Law, in 2010 and Sunshine in 2012. In 2016 the released a pop-funk banger EP w/ The Hentze Horns including Quick To Fix.
In 2018, MonkeyRat released their 1st hip hop/gospel track, Get Into The Light ft: Debbie Cameron, Deborah Herbert, Joanita Zachariassen, mastered by Grammy award-winning engineer Randy Merrill.
In 2020, MonkeyRat released their 1st pop/singer-songwriter/soul co-written song, U Gotta Love Being U sung by Alain Apaloo, and Anna’s 1st co-composed pop-funk banger, Good Morning Reykjavik. In 2022, MonkeyRat released The Child, their 1st bedroom pop/dream pop/neo-soul track sung by Anna Sofía Skoradal; additionally mixed & mastered by Kurt Uanela, Grammy award-nominated producer of Depeche Mode. MonkeyRat released their critically acclaimed Isolation EP composed by Anna Iachino, a powerful poem set to 70’s Psychedelic Jazz Rock/Art Rock.
On June 24th, 2022, Anna Iachino received a master’s in music at Iceland University of The Arts.
In 2024, MonkeyRat released 3 new singles, Niels Uni Dam, What A Crazy World ft. Alain Apaloo, and Where’s The Peace ft. Ayi Solomon.
