
Cultural evening w/Monica & Andrea Struss
The evening starts at 6pm where the host welcomes you to a dinner buffet with a selection of delicious dishes including various Faroese specialities. After dinner there is a musical section, which is part of the programme for the Faroe Islands Festival of Classical and Contemporary Music, with different musical groups for each event.
The music is followed by an introduction to Faroese chain dancing and ballads. The guests will learn the steps and will have the opportunity of participating in the chain dance, where traditional ballads will be sung. The evening’s entertainment starts at 6pm and ends at around 8:30pm.
Price dkk 550 pr. person and for children 4-12 years dkk 275 pr. child and younger children are free of charge.
Monika Stauss Joensen (violin),
Andrea Stauss Hofmann (orgul, klaver)
Monika Stauss Joensen, violin and organ player Andrea Stauss Hofmann are sisters and originally from Switzerland. Monika has for many years lived in the Faroe Islands working as violin teacher at the music school, plays with Føroya Symfoniorkestur and is an active chamber musician. As a touring artist Monika has performed in several countries such as Italy, France and USA. Her sister, Andrea lives in Switzerland, where she works as organist at several churches and active as a chamber musician. Monika and Andrea began playing violin and piano six and seven years old. Already four years later they impressed at the “Yecklin competition” in chamber music in Zürich. Ach year they play at various venues in Switzerland.
