Yggdrasil was established as a band in 1981 by Kristian Blak.

At Summartónar 2023 Yggdrasil will perform with various musicians from classical, folk, rock and jazz backgrounds, and will play excerpts from musical suites performed by the group from 1981 to 2022: Den Yderste Ø, Kingoløg, Concerto Grotto, Travelling, Brøytingar, Ravnating, Porkerisvatn, Masques.
