EKA is a Faroese trio consisting of the brothers Ernst and Aksel Remmel playing trumpet and piano respectively as well as Kristina Thede johansen on saxophone. Apart from playing their instruments, all three sing as part of their concerts. They are all currently studying at different conservatories in the Nordic Region – in Aarhus, Copenhagen and Helsinki. EKA was formed in the summer of 2020 in connection with Summartónar Festival on the Faroe Islands, where they recorded their live concert in SALT concert hall. The recording was released on digital platforms in the spring of 2021, which among other features Páll Sólstein’s composition of Lisbeth Smedegaard Andersen’s poem September from the poem collection For the Times of the Year.
